Huntington Beach Police and Community FoundationScholarship Program
The HBPCF is offering scholarships to graduating high school seniors in Huntington Beach.
Students graduating from a high school in Huntington Beach in 2020 who plan to attend an accredited college are eligible. Students who are residents of Huntington Beach but attend high school in another city are also eligible. Each scholarship will be a minimum of $1,000 and the intent is to award approximately four scholarships in 2020. The number of scholarships and/or the amount offered may increase as fundraising efforts continue.
The deadline for submitting the application is Friday 2/28/20
2020 Jake Olson "Courage" Scholarship Award Recipients
Nicholas Lagana
Nicholas is a senior at Edison High School and recipient of the Jake Olson "Courage" Scholarship. Nicholas is considering California Baptist University to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering or studying at the University of Hawaii at Manoa for a degree in nursing.
Olivia Ooms
Olivia was awarded the Jake Olson "Courage" Scholarship and is currently a senior at Huntington Beach High School. She will be attending Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, in the fall where she will study songwriting and the music business field. She will continue to pursue her dream of becoming a professional country singer
Alexandra Santiago
Alexandra is a senior at Ocean View High School and recipient of the Jake Olson "Courage" Scholarship. Alexandra is interested in earning her degree in kinesiology with a focus on pediatric physical therapy. She has always been interested in a career in the medical field and wants to help children stay healthy and physically fit.
Jared Rhone
Jared is a senior at Huntington Beach High School and was awarded the Jake Olson "Courage" Scholarship. He has been on the HBHS Soccer Team his entire high school career and also very involved in community volunteer events. Jared has been accepted at 12 universities but based on his shirt selection in this photo, it looks like Vanguard University will be his choice in the fall. His course of study will be in Journalism or Communications and hopes to pursue a career in Sports Journalism.
2020 Gil Coerper Memorial Scholarship Award Recipients
Jacob Fong
Jacob is a senior at St. Anthony High School and recipient of the Gil Coerper Memorial Scholarship. Jacob will be attending Westmont College in the fall to pursue a major in Political Science with a minor in History. He has also been accepted into the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC). He hopes to receive a commission as a US Army officer upon graduation
Griffin Roberts
Griffin is a senior at Edison High School and a recipient of the Gil Coerper Memorial Scholarship. Griffin's course of study depends on which school he attends in the fall. He is interested in engineering, business and possibly law school. His goal is to start a business creating solutions to make the world a better place
